Lost in a cartoon Kentucky Derby for the last decade, The Doxies struggle to come to grips with the hectic nature of the modern world. The band's founder, Brent Maness, recently asked,"Why is there so much violence and hatred; and where the hell is my mint julep?" Luckily he has some comrades in arms to help him cope. Tim Lloyd is a tour-de-force on electric guitar and contributes mightily to the song crafting of the Doxies. Bryan Maness, twin brother of the other Maness in the band, provides earth shattering bass tones and rhythm complimented by new addition Phylshawn Johnson on drums. Phyl brings more than just a wicked snare snap or tom roll, she adds a soulful female harmony to the vocal mix. Rounding out the group is the ever tumultuous keyboard virtuoso Wes Wingate, the self admitted black sheep of the group and a master of disguises. With four albums under their collective belt and another slated for early next year, we can only hope they continue on the path to enlightenment.
